A Little Blurb About Myself
Have you ever had a moment when you realized something that you thought should have been obvious to you for quite some time? The passion for photography was that thing for me.
When someone asks me how long I have been taken photographs, I give the short answer. “I’ve been doing this for since 2018.” The long, more truthful, answer is this:
I purchased my first camera, a point-and-shoot Canon, in 2008 to ease my mind during the stresses of my 20s. At that time, photography was something I did to occupy my mind while I took long walks in park trails to sort my thoughts. I didn’t advertise it and I certainly was not “in to it”. Fast forward to 2018, and I was picking up a camera again for much of the same reason. Photography was a way to dig myself out of a deep depression and express myself through the medium. The only difference in between the decade between was my continued commitment to the craft. Oh and I had a community of people who shared the passion both in-person and virtually through the much more refined platform of YouTube.
Not only has photography helped me balance myself, through having a meaningful hobby, but it has also led enhanced my other passions: travel, nature and community. I have made images of many things but to this day, I still have a deep for nature. In fact, I find it ironic that the two things that bought me such my peace in my early 20s have become the two things that bring me so much joy now that I am quite a bit older.
In short, photography is has not only been a passion but has become one of the key components in my life which is why I share it with others. If the images I make can provide anyone with peace, a sense of adventure or a willingness to explore, then sharing my passion has been worth it.
