Celebrating National Park Week

National Park Week (NPW) is an annual celebration of the incredible United States National Parks, offering visitors unforgettable experiences while preserving our lands, culture, and history for future generations. These parks are among the most accessible and enjoyable public lands in the country. My visits to these parks have transformed how I think about personal well-being and enjoyment, sparking a passion for National Park road trips.

Over the years, I have made many amazing memories during my National Park visits. Whether it be the time I nearly got stuck on top of Old Rag Mountain in Shenandoah National Park or the unforgettable adventure of getting stuck in the sand at the Great Sand Dunes National Park. And then there is the time I drive to the wrong entrance of the Grand Canyon? Each of these moments has created a lasting memory, which has deepened my love for these natural wonders.

National Parks play a vital role in preserving our natural and cultural heritage. They protect land and wildlife that would otherwise be lost if not safeguarded and preserve invaluable historical relics and stories that are essential for understanding our nation's past. Beyond conservation, National Parks offer countless opportunities for education, recreation, and personal well-being.

As we celebrate National Park Week, I encourage you to get involved and make the most of the many activities and events taking place. On April 22, 2023, all National Parks are free to visit. Even if you can’t make it on the 22nd, there are many other days you can enter for free:
