In Search of Peace

Throughout my life, I have found myself in need of an escape.

Whether it be an escape from work, an escape from reality, or an escape from the monotony of everyday life, there are times when I just need to escape. This need has led me to some of the darkest places in my life but has also led me to some of my most valued passions.

There is an overwhelming feeling I get from being in a world where we are constantly “on” and “connected.” It is a feeling so crushing I have to lock myself away and find solace in isolation. Strangely, being overwhelmed and in discomfort is what pushed me into photography, nature, and ultimately, nature photography.

Through the practice of nature photography, I found a place to sort through these constrictive feelings. Through the gift of nature photography, I found peace.

On those days when I just cannot handle the overwhelming, crushing feelings of life, I escape to places where I cannot be reached and am only obligated to be present.

This craft has been a gift that has provided me with appreciation, love, and an outlet. This craft has been a therapist, a confidant, and a friend.
