The Pitmaster Santa Toy Drive is an annual event held by Rasheed Philips, owner and operator of Philips Barbecue Co. Every year, he and Pontoon Brewing put on an event with one objective in mind — collecting toys for the children of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA). CHOA, a not-for-profit children healthcare system, is one of the largest systems of it’s type.

My journey through Colorado led me to one of the most interesting locations I have ever been — Silver Jack Reservoir. Although this beauty was a highlight on my journey, I was also able to take in some others including Telluride, Alta Lakes Campground and Lizard Head Pass Campground.

Anytime I travel out west, I meet some of the most wonderful people. You will have a difficult time finding a McDonalds or a Walmart in many of these mountain towns. Most of the towns are nestled within mountain passes or remote areas where having a large chain store is inefficient. These towns have small shops, hotels and restaurants. The people interesting and the sights you will see are stunning.

On Saturday, November 13, 2021, some of the USA’s greatest barbecue pit masters descended upon Charleston, South Carolina to serve thousands of patrons. The reason: raising money and awareness for the Hogs for a Cause charity in the battle against pediatric brain cancer.
